Los Angeles Travel Vlog

A little Vlog of our travels to Los Angeles the other week.

After a tough Christmas we decided on a whim that we needed a break away & some Winter Sun, so we booked a trip to LA. We’ve been quite a few times before and the kids, as you can imagine absolutely love it.

Though we always to the whole Universal Studios and Disneyland thing, for me it’s the more chilled side of LA that I love. A Sunday browse down West 3rd Street, breakfast at The Brentwood Country Mart, beach days at Crystal Cove. I do love the odd designer shop or two on Melrose, but my favourites are all the Independent boutiques dotted around. I always manage to find far too many things I want to buy.

We’ve been several ways over the years, staying in various hotels & renting a house in Beverley Hills ( which I’ll admit, did cost a small fortune:/) When traveling with kids I find the easiest places to stay are always renting somewhere. You get far more room to spread out ( we have 3 boys) often there’s a pool with other kids for the boys to play with and I think it just gives you a little more freedom. Plus it does tend to work out cheaper when there’s a group of you.

This time we booked two apartments via Airbnb. The first 5 days in the city, just off Hollywood Blvd. That way we could go to Universal pretty easily yet be close enough to all the shops and entertainment in the centre.

Then we travelled down to Irvine for the second part of the holiday. It’s nearer to the beaches I love at Laguna and Crystal Cove and only a 20 minute drive to Disneyland. The drive to Disney from the centre of LA always seems to take an hour an a half or more as traffic is always madness, so it makes sense to stay in Orange County for a few days.

Both times we booked a 2 bedroom apartment and both had pools which was brilliant for the boys. Apartments get booked up quick in LA so if you’re thinking of a holiday to California in the Summer I’d say start booking now to get the best places to stay.

If you’re super organised take a look at Crystal Cove Cottages. I absolutely love these little huts on the beach but as they’re so popular you need to book 6 months in advance to be within with a chance of getting one.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. I’m more than happy to share any tips we’ve learnt along the way traveling to California:)
