Floral dress from Pyrus London.
This week’s Fashion Hotlist featuring the likes of Zara, H&M, Asos + more. We’re looking at all the key trends, how to style them and lots of outfit inspiration.
If you prefer to watch the video I’ve linked that below or read on for this weeks feature:)
Studio 54
So, first up it’s Studio 54. This has to be one of my favourite looks ever! Think Bianca Jagger, boogie nights, jumpsuits and sprinkle of gold. Which actually works perfectly this season with both the 70s trend and metallics that we’re seeing lots of. Remember Jenny in Forest Gump, when she’s partying too much, that gold jumpsuit anyone? I love that look so for me this season I feel like I’m being spoilt:) Here’s a few outfit ideas I found I hope you’ll love and I think the key to this trend is just to go for it. No half hearted attempts, throw the self consciousness out the window and think to hell with it, it’s party season!!
Coatigans
I do love a trend that looks chic but will also keep me warm! I’m all for staying toasty:) So seeing that the Coatigan is a big hitter for AW18 fills me with joy. Essentially, it’s a chunky knit cardigan, worn with a belt, that suddenly looks like a coat. Voila! We’re not talking brain surgery here but it definitely gets 10/10 for practicality. I bought one in H&M that I’ve worn a lot with a skinny belt from Reiss and I’ve linked below some others below that caught my eye. I love all the grey tones in Winter but also all those Autumnal colours we’re seeing look perfect, and to be totally honest will never really go out of fashion.
Roll neck | Turtleneck Sweaters
Who’d have thought that something as simple as a roll neck sweater could be such a big trend? But for me it’s the practicality of them. We’re seeing so many high waisted skirts and trousers this season. And on top of that the big trend for trousers is hugely wide leg. Wearing anything too chunky on the top with these in my humble opinion, is not the most flattering look in the world. But, worn with something fairly tight and slimline on the top simply creates a cleaner line and is far more slimming. & Other Stories have the best selection and I love all the tones they come in.
Leather Trend
If like me, the idea of squeezing yourself into a leather dress fills you with dread, opt for leather trousers this season instead. Still featuring one of the massive trends for Autumn/Winter 18 but without feeling like you’re in a straight jacket and unable to breathe! We found so many great pairs both on the High Street and Designer collections, both real leather and faux leather, that you really are spoilt for choice.
Teddy Coats
Love it or hate it, Teddy Coats are big for this Autumn/Winter. For me, and you’ll see a running theme here, they are very warm. Which, living in the UK with it’s freezing Winter’s, I’m all about keeping warm. I love all the double breasted options but I also found a couple of sport luxe style bombers I thought gave the trend a nice twist.
Black Backed Florals
If you’ve seen this weeks video, the tounge twister that’s far easier to write than speak! But another big trend this season that suddenly looks more Autumnal. I found some gorgeous outfits on Topshop, Stories and Pyrus London. Pair with a round toe knee high boot and a faux fur coat. And cool or not, I’m wearing all mine with tights!
Knee High Boots
I’m picky when it comes to knee high boots. I hate anything too tight and you’ll never see me in anything over the knee. But, if you can find the right style, I do love this look. For me, I much prefer the looser styles, nothing too tight around the calf, slightly lower heel, round toe. I guess more 70s so I don’t feel too ‘glam’. It’s always worth popping into a few vintage stores or Oxfam, particularly in London. One persons rubbish is another persons gold! I love this pair I found in Cos, wide enough on the lower calf to not feel I’m restricting my circulation and low enough heel to feel more of a relaxed style.
Checked Blazer
Wearing a blazer over everything and anything this season is a winner. And you’d be hard pushed to search blazers and not come across a checked one in every colour possible. I love this look. It can instantly dress up any outfit and with a skinny belt worn over the top, feels far more on trend than wearing it loose. Play with textures for something a little different and no doubt you’ll have this in your wardrobe for years.
Handbag Love
Last but not least, our pick of our favourite handbags we’ve found this week. And it has to be a weekly thing because strewth, there’s a lot of new handbags out there! Style and wearability I do love a cross body bag but then I came across this stunning emerald green Wandler bag on Net-A-Porter and I was willing to sacrifice any notion of practicality. How stunning is that bag:) Others we found this week are my new & Other Stories buckle bag which is gorgeous, a little Moschino quilted number from their diffusion range and a little sprinkle of blush to lighten up proceedings.
I hope, as always, you liked this edition. Take a peek at the video below for the full rundown on this weeks Fashion Hotlist. xx
