I have long been a lover of Net-A-Porter but what I love, and what my bank balance tells me, are often two very different matters! So when the sales starts I’m on there like a shot, searching through the beautiful collections at a fraction of their original prices.
Designer clothes don’t always mean the best quality, if you buy into a ‘name’ brand for the sake of the logo, you’re not necessarily going to see the quality you deserve for your money. But for me, there are certain brands that are always well worth the extra expense. Often they are the independent brands you might not have heard of, but are creating beautiful, original collections and the quality is simply above and beyond anything on the High Street.
Swimwear for example, I don’t much how I wasted on cheap swimwear, having to throw my bikini away each season because it fell to bits in the pool. No-one likes a saggy bikini bottom! And then I started investing in more expensive collections and I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. The fabric, the fit, the lining, even the type of stitching matters. You pay a little bit more and you’ll find it lasts you for years.
As you’ve probably gathered on our Instagram page, I have a little obsession with maxi dresses. Particularly through Summer, I love the floaty bohemian style and they’re perfect for the beach. But finding the perfect maxi dress is not always easy. For me the floatier the better but some styles can make you feel like you’re wearing a maternity sack, which having had 3 children is not a look I wish to return to.

Brands like Three Graces London and Elizabeth and James have done some great versions this season and even better I’ve featured a couple I found in the sale on net-a-porter. We’ve also featured a few over on our Youtube channel both from designers and High Street stores if you fancy a little more inspiration.
The sales are often a good time to stock up on Winter basics too. Stock that stores may have had for a while and if you go classic, it won’t matter which season it was from. Now is the time to find a perfect Winter coat, loungewear and sweaters. I try and stay away from anything too trend led when I’m buying in the wrong season. Go for simple ‘classic’ styles and you’ll find you’ll use it for years.
